Hey love, I'm Alaura Lovelight.

My story is the classic independent artist story; I wanted to create music, media and write all day while living a life of time and financial freedom. 

I went from shopping for groceries at the dollar store to making my full time living as a creative

And now I teach other creatives how to do the same!

But not without some trials and tribulations. 

4 years ago I got what I thought was a life changing opportunity when I was offered a distribution deal with a Major Record Label. 

It did change my life, but not in the way I thought it would. 

Thousands of dollars, a move across the country by myself, and a lot of margaritas later the deal fell through.

I was devastated. Embarrassed. Broke and broken.

I felt like I had lost everything.

Little did I know this "failed opportunity" would change the rest of my life and the lives of those around me

(which is what I wanted the whole time anyway 🙈)

I realized everything that had been promised to me, I could do myself. The radio promo. The billboard campaigns. The press promo. I could do it on my own. 

So I went to work.

I put out a single in September 2021 called 'Eroticy' and took everything I learned to ignite the fire. 

Over the next 9 months I booked myself on over 130 podcasts and local tv shows.

I spent countless nights up until 4 am scouring the internet for contacts at radio stations. Sending emails. Calling stations. Finding anyone who will play the record. 

It was exhausting at first, but after 30 days, it started to work. One station started spinning the record, then 2, then 5, then 10. By June over 100 stations all over the world were playing my record. Africa, Scotland, UK. 

I couldn't believe it. I did it without a label, without a manager and without even a big social media following!

That led to an abundance of paid opportunities as an independent artist. Keynote speeches. Shows. Brand Deals. Sponsorships. Business Partnerships. All as an independent artist. 

My path to a successful independent artist and creative had alot of ups and downs.
